Roadtrip GIF

This last weekend, Joel Armstrong (my good friend and an incredibly talented electronic producer) and I took a trip to Kelowna for a radio interview at Music City Podcast and a show at Streaming Cafe. It was a pretty relaxed timeline, and we had the chance to test out some new stop motion apps. Check out this GIF. Fun times!

Writing Writing Writing

I've been busy writing new music! Since this new album has a crazy deadline attached to it (has to be finished by May), I've been writing writing writing. I'll try to upload some videos in the next few weeks to give you a sneak peek.

Big News :D

Here's some REALLY exciting news! FACTOR just gave us a bunch of money to record a new album! WHOOOO! Time to start writing...

Crazy, Cold, Beautiful: Alberta

I just got back from a quick solo tour through Southern Alberta, and I wanted to thank everyone that showed up despite the extreme weather. There were snow storms, road closures, and near death driving situations... but as always, I made a bunch of new amazing friends. Much love to you all. See you in spring!

"The Story Behind The Song" 2012 Tour

We will be embarking a series of Western Canadian tours in fall 2012 with The Reckoners. Dates are still in the works, so keep an eye out for when we'll be in your area.

Introducing Our Debut EP, Steel Audrey

We are very proud to introduce our debut album, Steel Audrey.

Albert Einstein once said: "It is better to believe than to disbelieve; in so doing, you bring everything to the realm of possibility."

When we began thinking about recording an album, it wasn't exactly in the "realm of possibilty". We had enough money to buy a case of beer and record about half a song. But, we thought we might be able to call on some of you die-hard fans to donate your hard-earned dollar bills in return for a quickly recorded 3 song demo. As it turned out, you guys and gals donated $3,000, and we were able to record a 6 song EP.

We are absolutely humbled by your support and genuine interest in our music, and really hope that you have as much pride in this album as we do.

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU, we couldn't have done this without you.

If you pre-ordered the album, you should have received an email with instructions on how to download it. Physical CDs have been mailed to all fundraising supporters, and pre-sales will be shipped today. If you have any issues receiving anything please email derekkehler@gmail.com.

Sincerely,
Steel Audrey (Derek, Rachele, Krista, Matt, Byron)

Official CD Release Date

Mastering is complete, and the first run of CDs has begun!
We will officially be releasing the CD on July 3rd.

For those of you who donated to our fundraising efforts, you will be receiving a digital copy within the next few weeks. For everyone else, presales will begin in about a month.
Exciting times! thanks for your patience and support.

Working on an EP

Well, life is back on the fast track. The past month we were in and out of the studio working on our first single, Beat Up Old Hobo with the wonderfully talented Matthew Rogers of Neighbourhood Productions!  It’s been lots of fun so far!

We also hosted a super fun Backyard ShitShow where we debuted a few of our newest music videos, shared some birthday cake, drank a lot of beer and listened to the musical stylings of Ben Rogers. The Backyard ShitShow was also the kick off for our  Online Fundraising Campaign, in which we are trying to raise $2,000 to record the rest of our album.

We’d love to get music out to you – our fans, as quickly as possible, which is why any amount you can spare would be amazing! And if you’re feeling generous there are lots of fun “perks” to choose from too!

Ultimately right now our goal is to do a few shows in July and August and then get back into the studio in September!

Thanks for reading! And we look forward to seeing you at our next show at The Princeton on Aug 6!
